Project Details
United Chattogram Hospital Ltd.(UCHL) incorporated to establish a 500 bed multispecialty hospital and a 100 seat medical college as per PPP contract on Bangladesh Railway Site in Chattogram, Bangladesh throughout the term 50 years . In view of providing quality healthcare services to its railway employees as well as general public of Chattogram and also to commercialize its non-core assets, Bangladesh Railway intends to establish a multi-specialty hospital and medical college under PPP mode. This public private partnership (PPP) contract signed on 18th March 2020 between The Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Represented by Represented by The Ministry of Railways Acting through Bangladesh Railways and the Private Partner herein after named as United Enterprises & Company Ltd. (UECL) And The Project Company herein after named as United Chattogram Hospital Ltd. (UCHL). Term of the project will be 50 years from the Appointed Date and ending upon expiry of 50th year.
The Project Site consists of 2.42 acres of land for establishment of Phase 1 Project Facilities and the Phase 2 Project Facilities (the “Phase 1 and 2 Land”) and 3.58 acres of land for Future Project Facilities and a nursing institute and/or a paramedical college (the “Future Phase Land”) (together “the Site”). The Site is located opposite to the Central Railway Building (“CRB”) along with CRB road in Chattogram, Bangladesh. The Site is owned by the Contracting Authority. For phase 1 & 2 land, Lease agreement signed between the parties on 17th December 2020.
The main objectives that Bangladesh Railway (BR) intends to achieve through development of this project are: To provide medical services to BR employees as well as general public, to make available the advance medical services for BR employees, To commercialize its non-core assets, To explore PPP as an effective means of attracting investments and expertise for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the healthcare services offered by BR.
